The locations and destinations have been selected to give you the best opportunities to take great photos in Uganda’s best mammal and birding parks. Brief Uganda Bird Photography Tour Itinerary

Day 1 & 2 – Kibale National Park aka ‘The Primate Capital of the World’

We kick off the first two days of this incredible bird photography tour in Uganda at ‘The Primate Capital of the World’ Kibale National Park. This incredible park is famed for not only it’s large Chimpanzee population but also for it’s incredible bird diversity where a whopping 335 species have been recorded!

On your first day you’ll get the chance to photograph Chimpanzees whilst also photographing some impressive birds along the way. Bird species to look forward to photographing are: Blue-shouldered Robin-chat, Natal Robin-chat, Narina Trogon among many more! On our second day we’ll spend the whole day birding around the park in search of rare forest species such as Green-breasted Pitta, Red-tailed Bristlebill, Red-tailed Ant Thrush, White-naped Pigeon, Snowy-headed Robin-chat, Yellow-mantled Weaver, Yellow Longbill, Bocages’ Bush-shrike and many more forest species.

Day 3 & 4 – Queen Elizabeth National Park

On our 3rd and 4th day of this bird photography tour in Uganda, we’ll be visiting Uganda’s most popular national park – it’s popular for a reason! Queen Elizabeth National Park boasts lots of different habitats which in turn allows for not only an incredible bird photography experience but also for taking photos of African big mammals. Get ready to witness crater lakes, forested gorges, savannah plains, swamps, rivers and the beautiful Kazinga Channel – home to an abundance of wildlife. The park also has the most amount of bird species found in Uganda! Be sure to get your lenses polished – you’re going to need it!

Day 4, 5 & 6 – Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

On the next three days of this bird photography tour in Uganda, you’ll be treated to arguably the best national park in Uganda. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a haven for birdlife and primates alike with a impressive list of 350 bird species, 310 butterfly species, 130 mammal species and several primate species – all of which are very rare. The wildlife list is endless and this park deserves 3 days!

​You’ll be taking photos and doing some of the best on-foot birding Africa has to offer! We’ll be searching to take photos of the rare and beautiful forest species such as Regal Sunbird, Northern Double-collared Sunbird, Ludhers Bush-shrike, Petits cuckoo-shrike, Bar-tailed Trogon, White-tailed crested-flycatcher, Purple-breasted Sunbird, Collared Apalis, Elliot’s Woodpecker, Purple-throated Cuckooshrike, Willcock’s Honeyguide, Xavier’s Greenbul, Kivu Ground-thrush. We’ll also be visiting Ishasha which is famed for it’s Tree-climbing Lion population – a curious sight to behold to say the least!

Day 7 & 8 – Lake Mburo National Park

We finish this amazing 8 Day Uganda Bird Photography Tour by visiting the beautiful Lake Mburo National Park where you’ll get to take photos of some of the best wetland birds Uganda has to offer! We’ll be taking you on a leisurely boat ride onto the lake to take photos  of some of the tricky species to find, as well as going on game drives and doing some on-foot birding around the lake. Species to look forward to include the African Finfoot, Dwarf Bittern, Little Bittern, Black-crowned Night Heron, Green-backed Heron, Goliath Heron, Water thick-nee, Black-winged Stilt, African Wattled Lapwing, Spotted Redshank, Eurasian Curlew, Bar-tailed Godwit and many more!

​In the afternoon we’ll slowly head back to Kampala/Entebbe ready for your evening flight where this truly epic 8 Day Uganda Bird Photography Tour will be coming to to an end – not without going through our now impressive collection of photos we’ve acquired!
