18 Day Birder’s Paradise Tour

Join us on our 18 Day Birder’s Paradise Tour in December 2020 to join a group of 6 with 1 Tour Leader. December is arguably the best month in Kenya to see birds in their full breeding plumages as well as seeing visiting Palearctic migrants. We’ll be travelling far and wide crossing a variety of habitats to find the very best birding and big mammal spots in Kenya!

What to look forward to:

  • Bird Species Highlights –  Secretarybird, Giant Kingfisher, Pin-tailed Whydah, Jackson’s Francolin, Red-billed Hornbill, Jackson’s Hornbill, Red-collared Widowbird, Long-tailed Widowbird, Rosy-breasted Longclaw, White-spotted Flufftail, Kori Bustard, Bar-tailed Trogon, Great Blue Turaco, Ross’s Turaco, Double-toothed Barbet, Red-fronted Barbet, Papyrus Gonolek, Southern Ground-hornbill, Golden-winged Sunbird, Shining Sunbird, Tacazze Sunbird among many more and a good chance of seeing huge flocks of Lesser Flamingo!
  • Mammal Species Highlights – African ‘Big Five’ i.e. African Elephant, Cape Buffalo, Rhinoceros, Leopard, African Lion. Along with Cheetah, Striped Hyena, Spotted Hyena, Serval, Caracal, Honey Badger, Common Warthog, Hippopotamus, Grevy’s Zebra, Reticulated Giraffe, Bongo, Gerenuk, Common Eland, Crested Porcupine, Aardvark, Rock Hyrax among many more!
  • Habitats Covered – open grassland, acacia savannah, scrubland, semi-desert, wetlands, montane forests, lowland forest, papyrus swamp, rocky gorges
  • Climate – Sunny and warm conditions. Cool at night and at higher elevations. Some rain can be expected
  • Maximum Group Size – no more than 6 individuals to prevent overcrowding and 1 Tour Leader
  • Tour Pace – easy to moderate pace with some walking and some long drives
