Called ‘The Primate Capital of the World’, Kibale National Park, is one of the world’s best primate parks. The park holds a population of 1450 chimpanzees and 13 species of primates overall. The birdlife is great as well, with a bird list of 335 species, thanks to the nearby Bogodi Wetland Sanctuary! A trip to Kibale is a must for any birder visiting Uganda.
Renowned as ‘The True African Wilderness’, Kidepo Valley does live up to it’s name. Due to the park being less accessible, it is one of Uganda’s least visited parks. However, don’t let that put you off, as this means is you get to reap in all the benefits due it’s isolation! It has the largest herds of Cape Buffalo in Africa, whilst boasting Lion, Leopard & Elephant. The best part though, for us birders, is of course, the birdlife. It holds a handful of Uganda’s rarest species such as the Black-breasted Barbet & Karamoja Apalis!
